Presenters: Alejandro Molina, Deputy Director, Providence After School Alliance and

Chris Smith, President & Executive Director, Boston After School & Beyond

The Providence After School Alliance (PASA) and Boston After School & Beyond (BASB) have been collaborating on a process to design new citywide STEM and college readiness badging systems that have the potential to recognize, motivate, validate, and link competencies and achievements gained in and out-of-school. During the webinar, the presenters will discuss their vision for digital badging, the process for bringing together cross-sector partners to align standards, targeted competencies, and assessment tools, as well as their insights on the work to create and test the systems. They also hope to benefit from participant perspectives on the following:

• Targeting skills and competencies that will truly deepen STEM learning and promote college & career readiness;
• Building interest in alternative learning spaces and the currency of badges among youth;
• Successfully introducing these systems to higher education and the marketplace; and
• The utility of this work to the fields of summer and expanded learning, and the possibilities to advance program quality and outcomes measurement in the future.
