A Central Space
A central, visible and easily accessible Hub center will be an open, safe and affirming public space that acts as a gateway and connection space for Providence youth and opportunity providers. It will locate the management staff and youth interns or volunteers of between 4-8 people and serve 40-100 youth daily. In addition to offices, it will need to offer flexible opportunity spaces allowing for a variety of nonprofit staff to offer a range of services to include case management (including 1 on 1), HIV testing, job readiness classes, a cyber center, flexible meeting rooms for small or large groups and open event, training, gathering and hang out space.
At the Hub, young people can access the Hub website on computers, get guidance from staff, and participate in trainings and information sessions. Social events will provide occasions to connect to and engage young people. Opportunity providers will be able to host trainings, programs and information sessions for youth in this central location as well as convene as learning communities. Hosted space for collaborative ventures connecting Providence's entrepreneurial, tech, business and education groups with Providence youth will be provided and connected to an ongoing retail space. The Hub will also support youth worker training and capacity building supports for current opportunity providers as well as technical assistance for new efforts.
