Grow With Us!

In 2004, Providence established PASA as a public/private partnership to increase access to quality after-school programming for the young people of the city, starting with middle school age youth. Truly a community initiative, more than 100 leaders from after-school organizations and city departments joined teams of youth and parents to create a research-driven plan.

In the last ten years, PASA has grown exponentially and is now not only serving 1600 middle school youth annually with hands-on learning and enrichment programs through the AfterZone, but has expanded to include to the Hub — a credit-bearing system of hands-on learning and career prep programs for high school students.

Since 2005, PASA has facilitated engaging learning opportunities and socially and emotionally beneficial programming for 10,000 Providence middle and high school students!

All that hard work is paying off!

Independent analysts found that 99% of middle school students who attended more than 100 days of PASA’s AfterZone graduated from high school. Among students who attended between 50 and 100 days, 97% graduated.

The AfterZone and Hub are working in tandem to provide learning opportunities that are transforming our youth. Students in the AfterZone show improved school attendance, student engagement, and math grades. Students in the Hub are gaining opportunities to build on their in-school learning by participating in programs outside of school that garner them course credits and expose them to professional and collegiate interests and pathways that exist here in Providence and beyond.

In short, PASA’s expanded learning after school programs make our city’s young people better in-school students, better prepared for their futures, and excited about contributing to a thriving Providence.

Currently, PASA’s resources allow us to provide these impactful opportunities for 40% of Providence middle school students and 4% of Providence high school students — with your help, we can grow our capacity to engage more young people in a range of learning opportunities that contribute not only to their success, but to the success of our city!
