PASA values and promotes meaningful youth and parent involvement

Welcome to the section of the PASA website dedicated exclusively to Youth and Families. Youth and family engagement, leadership and development are a key part of PASA's planning and implementation. Without the involvement of parents and youth in our work, the after-school improvement efforts will not impact the community in a meaningful way.

In this area you will find information about youth development and PASA's youth development centered work, and more information on AfterZones.

Providence After School Standards

In addition, by clicking here you can access the Providence After School Standards. As an initial step, PASA worked with providers, youth, parents and funders to develop a set of quality after-school standards for Providence. These standards act as a means to identify common language and agreement across the community on what we mean by a "quality" after-school program.

Click here to view the Providence After-School Quality Standards brochure. This brochure provides information on the importance of standards in after-school programming and can be used as a "checklist" when visiting and observing an after-school program. This document is available in English and Spanish.

Youth Opportunities Guide

The Youth Opportunities Guide is the only comprehensive guide on after-school and summer programs in Providence. It highlights the many innovative, fun programs available for youth out-of-school. Click here to find after-school and summer programs in the newest Providence Youth Opportunities Guide

It's really hard to find a program that is right for you and your son or daughter. Many young people leave programs shortly after joining because they aren't satisfied. Often that's because the right questions are not being asked about what is wanted and needed. Finding a quality afterschool program is also about asking what a youth needs and wants.
