Frontline Staff Member Spotlight: Paul Herne

By Emmanuel Janvier, Gilbert Stuart AfterZone Site Coordinator

Since we’ve been spotlighting our program providers over the past months, we thought that it’s also important to acknowledge the incredible frontline staff that work tirelessly in the AfterZone. When thinking about who to begin with, Paul Herne immediately came to mind.

Paul has worked in the AfterZone for 3 years. He began as a City Year Corps member at Gilbert Stuart and his service was so dedicated that PASA hired Paul as a permanent Program Support Staff at Gilbert Stuart’s AfterZone last yearOne day I had to abruptly call out sick, and Paul stepped up immediately—volunteering to oversee the day’s site operations from start to finish. He came to the office and prepared for the afternoon without skipping a beat. When I called (admittedly slightly worried) to check in, Paul— cool as a cucumber—said, “Emmanuel don’t worry about it. Relax, I got this!”

Paul didn’t break a sweat as he managed Gilbert Stuart’s AfterZone team, students, the program transition, and dismissal. This year, he was promoted to Gilbert Stuart’s Assistant Site Coordinator and I couldn’t ask for a better right hand man.

Students and providers alike look to Paul for guidance, finding a capable, friendly, and sympathetic ear, and PASA has a dedicated and passionate emerging leader.

Thank you, Paul, for your enthusiasm, passion for youth development, and years of hard work.
